Actual Romantech Activity August 2009

by Matt Romantech on August 8, 2009

Okay so.

Let’s talk about what I’m up to shall we, as in now?

Change the subject?

Hey, it’s cool, I just need to get it out of my system. It may be as simple as that. I was thinking last night my problem is I just need to get on with it, I know what I’m doing, what I’m dealing with, I just have to stop being so impatient and accept while I’m waiting for things to evolve and develop, I’m going to feel this pressure that I’m not living some perfect lifestyle when I’ve worked so damn hard.

There’s no point sitting round complaining. Rally and restate sure, be aware, certainly, but let’s not dwell.

I’m still in it, aren’t I? As I said, just taking some time to recalibrate toward my art and not hustling business day and night.

So basically working on the first Soul Science mixtape hopefully to drop in summer.

Right now it features 10-11 new songs we’ve been working with and basically it’s our big step onto the production scene, and our first publicly available issuage.

The idea behind this mixtape is that we’ve got 20+ tunes building up now and we’re going to be putting out 10 or so just because we think those tunes aren’t really going any further so it we’re going to put them out there on a mix and we can start seriously building up a little fanbase.

I will probably do some involved blog posts for the tunes, talking about each one in order to bolster the content there. We’re going to be doing a whole campaign as I said yeah, getting the serious marketing and branding on for summer.

That’s right, stepping up the branding. I have to get a new car, I bought material for a new suit, basically so I can start rocking a swish new style, and colouring in my brand so that I seem like a cool guy not some dude who whinges on his blog about being old.

I was going to put together a new mixtape but I went off the idea after talking with John about all these misfires.

I guess that’s ANOTHER thing about being older, you’ve failed a few times already so by simple elimination you’re narrowing down to what’s actually going to work and I realised y’know, if I’m just doing a mix as a desperate cry for attention from another obscure auckland DJ, sheesh forget it.

Once I realised it was August though which is a traditional time for the Romantech mixtape:

We had:

Who Loves Ya? (2004)

Decks and the City (2005)

Gentleman Caller (2008)

So hopefully can cobble something together there even if it’s just for the archives.

In terms of filming I have done some filming with my new camera for work but it’s just been hard with a few issues kinda getting me bogged down and demotivating me. I guess doing the filming thing ain’t easy just gotta keep pushing it.
