Romantech Quickly on Kubiks Blurred Vision Knowledge Bit

by Matt Romantech on November 3, 2009

Man I was bummed out reading half the article about Kubiks quitting drum and bass. He wrote “Things to Come” just for a start, which is an incredible soulful liquid funk tune, and THAT guy wants to quit dnb? I mean sure he was more on the concept of it not being realistic to earn a full time living from DnB which is kind of a big part of what I do in it. I mean in terms of – in my mind, I put business first so I can stay alive in Drum and Bass. That’s my whole vibe on it.

I complain on this blog that nobody reads that it’s hard to waste my life doing drum and bass, when this stupid business keeps making all this dumb money.

But if that guy cant stay in it, whats the point. Its depressing for the music industry. It makes me feel like thats where I should come into it and like, I mean obviously the guy wont quit fully but whats the quote

Basically the concept is about how drum and bass / the music industry can give you a blurred perception of reality. How easy it is to get sucked into thinking “right I’ll go full time with this”, how so many people seem to make it a successful living, how glamorous everything seems but in reality it is a hard nut to crack and the journey means playing at scummy sweat boxes with knackered sound systems, having battle with the MCs around you and being surrounded by male testosterone. Once you realize the reality of how hard it is you see that maybe you were looking at it with blurred vision.

Hard out, bro. I can connect with that.

What was I saying? Well that’s kind of an extension of my brand my character, that I would say well, my business skills can somehow contribute. He needs to have his music business functioning appropriately for himself and I just want to find away to finally get my stuff up to his standard.

It’s a nice idea, I guess. But being creative with what you can offer can be a part of creating something bigger and growing your story.  Just as I’ve got my own angle on it it’s weird times that the music industry is heading into.
