Right now I am really trying to bring both the Soul Science and Romantech websites up a level because this time of year may be the only chance I get but I’m not quite sure what it is I’m supposed to do, so I thought I’d make a list to help me out.
- tunes, primary content and access to tunes through players and widgets – obviously this is the big one – having some music to present. With the Soul Science site that all begins with the official release of the Dojo Inspectors, with Romantech I guess I’ll be pushing Dojo Inspectors also but also I want to fill out my archive.
so it’s about having the content then making that content downloadable or streamable through a platform and then integrating that into the site in a practical and aesthetically pleasing way.
And the end of the day, helping the fans to get the music is the goal.
- design – I don’t really want to tackle this without a designer otherwise it’s just going to take hours to probably achieve a mediocre result. I want to kind of have an objective idea of how to move forward rather than having some design in mind I want to try different things.
I don’t really want to be too clever I just want the site to be functional and use some striking imagery.
it’s achieving that balance between looking awesome but still being easy for visitors to get what they want.
With the Soul Science site we have some good shots we can use but for the Romantech site I might go for a big rehaul.
- sweet as landing page and sign up. This is a sweet as landing page directed to people coming to the site and to the brand fresh so it won’t be a front page ting.
- galleries – I had been using flickr for this but you can only have 200 pics up so I don’t know how handy that will be long term
- archive is mainly for the Romantech site, because obviously Soul Science doesn’t really need an archive except for where our gigs are concerned. Whereas the Romanech site I want to use the archive as a basis of all the content to
- performance – both the sites need a page for thoroughly detailing performance conditions and costs
- gigs – how can the website be best used for promoting gigs? Email is not particularly effective unless you set up and auckland list specifically. upcoming gigs need to be on the front page and each gig we’re promoting has to have it’s own page.
As each gig passes it moves from the “latest gig” section to the archive.
For gigs coming up there has to be facebook connections which is where a lot the online promotion for the gigs we do happens.
So that leaves the following list:
- write up for landing pages
- performance pages
- buttons and design for downloadable content
- integration with facebook, twitter etc.
- archives set up with relative galleries and content
- set up of primary music content for presentation and distribution
- final redesign for presentation including photos
