Nope, stil not talking about music. Musically i’m still in the wilderness, seeking redemption, I’m writing a lot. But I’m lookinf to really deliver now, there’s no point in meaningless talk, I don’t feel like talking it through . . .

I think as an artist it’s natural to have feelings of conflict, persistently. It’s part of what motivates you to be creative.

And the older I get and more I try to make sense of things, build a framework, using writing as a way to express and understand concepts in a way that will allow them to converge and perhaps become more manageable.

So I had this idea that I would converge my conflicted outpourings with my google marketing, but as it turns out it’s become useless at this stage to be so thoughtless toward my art and it’s basically my lack of discipline thats allowed everything to stagnate somewhat.

I’ve got to make an effort to continue to deliver and constant vigilance is required to maintain your ascent.

At the same time, I’m obviously still way to mauch of a dreamer and it doesn’t help. It’s about the small steps, because I know now, the plan hasn’t changed, it’s never really changed, it just continues to disappoint me how long it’s dragged out.

I don’t think anyone would want to sign up for my mailing list unless there was something in it for them, which is only natural, I wouldn’t start a mailing list unless there was something in it for me.

Is that really thinking of the fan? Or of something that could be carried? But that’s the thing, if it doesn’t feel like me then I won’t do it at all. It’s not like the video thing – which this is of course a small step towards – a list has to be a long term project.

With videos I can quickly throwdown and forget about it, with a list, I have to cultivate an audience using a trail of breadcrumbs.

But I can’t carry a strictly music vibe. A strictly marketing vibe would be too boring, and most of the time I want to talk about life and deep and meaningful concepts anyway. I want to do my silly Reality Compound stuff and talk about girls and cars.

I think that can be done through the lense of readership, and knowing anyone could be reading.

What I have to avoid is rambling, but I think the breadcrumb analogy is useful, because this is the bargain, the deal, the frame we enter into – I am making the effort to make my newsletter snappy for the reader, but in exchange I get to unravel my story in a way and in frame that makes sense.

Just like any narrative, I choose how the storyline is exposed and the way it’s framed, so if I want to start bringing in elemennts I have control of them, and as I build up my video, I can create videos especially for the newsletter until a point withn a few years that the newsletter becomes the natural starting point for new initiates to my converged brand, those wanting to make sense of what they’re seeing.

In the future you might see a video or hear a free download which will bring you back to more videos, more downloads, blogs, and eventually an email sign up, and it may only be then that the audience understands, this is music, this is marketing, but its a story, so you can take the free downloads, take the marketing tips, follow the story, or if doesn’t interest you, well, then don’t.

Just download my music of this site. Or go read my marketing blog if you want to read about marketing, or watch my videos on youtube if I ever do anything decent.
