Romantech Goes on Permanent Tour

Permanent revolution

I’m not a tour guide. I’m just like kid, do you want to come? $100 travel and $100 accomodation if applicable. If you want to come play 2 gigs with me, it’ll cost you $200. You get to be a rockstar on Matt’s rock star tour.

You get return tickets, a ride to the venue and back, a bed, and that’s it.

hahahahaha

I wouldn’t mind touring with Micah though that would be sick.

That would be different though, it wouldn’t be about margins if I was on tour with my friends.

Going through all kinds of vibes. Yeah that’s the thing, I’d be back on my all things to all people vibe, trying to create the perfect dynamic.

Start off mellow, mellow DJing, have a projector, lights if possible, go into instrumentation around deeper downtempo vibes, trip hop, alt country, indie, really chilled dubstep indie styles on the bass etc, then bring up into more funky deepness – back more into DJing – house, electro, rocky electro, electro rock indie, rockin out reality compound electro, indie rave into more dancey ravey, more harder, bassier rockin ito the drum and bass  and your peaking out now and beginning to start pitching down again at the peak, into techier, techier into deeper, deeper into minimal, into dubbier, more low slung half step arriving at dubstep, then bringing the indie vibe back, intense at first, then resolved and more spacious, more ambient until it’s less intense toward the close, selected tracks, blending less intensely and just drifting.

I think I’ll have to talk tactically about it another time.

You’d have 3 directions – more dancey, more intsrumenty, and more top 40 dj. the ability to give the crowd what they want, basically DJ like I do my pirate parties feeding off the audience.

The idea is you can fit a guest in at any point, start and end your set at any point, you can play four hours, or just play 1 or 2 from your set depending whether you’re playing a cafe on sunday or headlining a festival.

Fly in thursday or friday, grab a car, do a gig . . .

nail your main gig, use the day to do pirate or marketing, night to do a gig

can you do another gig?

On monday, can you do marketing or pirate, otherwise it’s back on the plane.

See in a monday situation, I’d want to go hard with a little marketing booklet I can hand out everywhere covering everything I do. I booklet for businesses, or even a DVD! and a flyer for general people, advertising general people stuff. It’s the useless monday or days I go out there and hit it trying to drum up kurb business or even marketing on the spot.

It’s

Gig the night you arrive?

Main thing, another gig?

then home unless there’s another gig or thing within 3 days. Then it begins again.

So I score the first gig for $500, then I try and hustle $500 things or gigs in the vicinity days either side.

Then I go into $200 gig mode for surrounding nights.

If I’ve got spare days I look at advancing things so I can run $200 rackets for pirates or marketing.

So I should be able to book 3 gig things and make $900-$1200 on a 2-3 day trip that might cost say $200 in travel and  $100 in accomodation if you cut some corners there.

I think there’d be a difference between a north island thing which could cost $300 and take 2-3 days for 3 gigs if you can even get 3 in a months notice, and south island where 2 months in advance you got 2 $500’s, and you’re trying to grab 4 $200’s in a 5 day spell. that would cost $200 travel, plus at least $100 for a car, and probably $300 for accomodation or other costs.

so it’s almost about cycles based around weekends. I’d be in auckland 4 nights a week at least.

that wouldn’t really affect my business.

If only I could sell it to councils, I’ll teach online marketing for an hour, walk around dressed like a pirate for an hour, and perform in a local venue for an hour, for $750.

There are 73 authorities. About 60 of them are worth approaching, and plenty of them are within an hours drive of somewhere I could play more than once a year, i don’t think I want to do it more than 30 times?

I’d start doing it once a month then I’d see how much more I could do. That wouldn’t disrupt my business at all.

I’m excited about getting my bass and hitting the road as this crazy pirate, DJ, marketing guy who can do CD and DVD copying right there on the spot, and fly in cheap printing from auckland like an airstrike.

Sure my business wouldn’t run as efficiently as in auckland, but I would make up for it by wangling new deals for cd dvd duplication and printing, and getting marketing relationships going on around the country.

I can still do my online music marketing on the road, and I’d have people here in auckland taking care of other stuff, as I would also be hustling some trade wherever I go.
