Compromised

by Matt Romantech on January 12, 2018

Now I have just discovered my site has been hacked, and they’ve shut it all down now.

It looks like I have the opportunity to consider the websites question again.

What sites do I absolutely need?

The strategy appears to be to make a list of all the sites we need to save and then deleting everything else.

It really looks like we’ll be getting down to business with the website question now, because we have to decide what the hell it is we’re doing with these sites, what we’re trying to do, and make hard decisions about it.

There are plenty of sites I want to keep the domain for whatever reason, but was always going to a need a new design concept going forward.

Take “cheapvideoproduction” – the stuff on the site would desperately need an update, it’s not worth saving – I mean what are you going to use the site for anyway?

If in 2 or 3 years you had freelancers here, you would redevelop the site, right?

What is there really worth saving?

I laugh that I momentarily am wondering after the content on justmusiconline, I already cancelled the domain!

But what about when I sat at crummer rd and I worked on all these sites, and I used to have the window open there beside me and I remember listening to lessons and aftermath by random movement.

And I laugh again that earlier I didn’t even want to look at my holiday pics for facebook and vid content and now I am pining after a terrible time when I once again made terrible decisions that cost me hundreds of dollars, doing all these stupid sites that never made a dime.

Well we are sorting it out now, in fact I don’t even feel shitty about it to be honest, we are being forced to sort out something on our list, and I can see how much rubbish I’ve had accumulating in there for years.

I feel like we’ve done good work finally cleaning up so many sites, and getting a better idea of what we want our web property to do.

NYL you’d probably be lucky if you did lose it.

cdvd

There are only a handful of sites we care about losing the content. In the case of sites like small biz promo, I don’t think the content is really even that valuable. With RC, I think we have it all. We can download it all, we know that. It’s just an index page.

Pirates, is the same, there’s a blog and that but it’s not really crucial.

CDDVD – yes, a crucial site, but it’s just a bunch of details and prices that’s a copy from the main kurb site, I don’t think

It’s like we said with cheapvideoproduction we only want the content to serve as a guide and a starting point to where we would take the thing, and we have to ask – where would we take the thing?

These sites matter, but they don’t, none of them are currently working, we will have some template stuff to get us started if we need to re-establish, but otherwise just keep it cool.

If we lose it, it’s not a big deal, we have some content to work with and it’s again the concept that represented.

What is your plan? When you have russian people here they can get russians to do all that work for $5p/hr and we slap a premium on it, remember what I said about having an opportunity for someone to make an income.

Video, websites, graphic design, writers, content. We do that stuff, we have our sites, our people get paid. If a bunch of people working for me make $10k pocket money one day from this, I would have done okay. It is my commitment to that idea that I can provide business and employment opportunities that pays out for the kinds of people I’d like to have around – good technical creative people.

When I’m starting up basswave, these are good sites to have, I want some dudes to work them up along with girl sites.

these next 5 well, I can’t let go, and it’s only 5. But blogwallop and freelancepimp are good brand concepts I can still work off.

Obviously I have purged most of my girly sites but I still have a few because these sites all work with ideas moving forward, look at the site names, they are good to go as a way to really get things ramping.

None of these sites were ever developed in any kind of way. The content doesn’t matter. The concept does.

The point is the content of the sites doesn’t need to be preserved because it is merely a concept that won’t awaken until someone gets involved or it hits a certain tipping point.

I don’t need this stuff, it’s just what I’m keeping in my vision.

These ideas are sound, it’s worth investing $100 a year into, simply because it’s my way, I come back around to what I was planning and I come through with it.

I am seeing an action plan, that we have to proceed to get my account reinstated after a final rinse through like I’m doing, and then download all the sites that matter, then archive up the web content, this will give me the chance to review all the kurb stuff so it can updated with prices and details and such.

These are the only sites that matter in terms of carrying through what we’ve already done.

kurb
romantech

That seems sad – kurb and mmm are museums now and NYL is pretty much filth.

The cddvd site is just there with kurb so I get my money, it’s kind of with the pirates as well as with kurb, some history and a chance to squeak some money out if I needed to do so, I never close the door.

The romantech site is the only one that really matters, we need to change the kurb site, and the others need a little polish but what’s the real task otherwise?

We have plans for new sites. I don’t think I’m doing the needs co-op any more I don’t think I care about sharing I think it’s pointless. I’m straight bolshevik, I get militant, it’s not all share bears. It’s permanent revolution.

I see things as going much better for me if I don’t build a big brand but rather let people put their own brand on it. The needs thing only comes in later once I’ve already sorted myself out and broken out.

Of course there is an old list of enterprises by priority, needs and free rent are gone, the only people getting free rent are russian girls, no bums, no hippies until we have a little pig pen for them. Internet jobs is gone, it’s russian girls and basswave freelancers.

NYL is russian girls, russian girls are basswave. basswave is podcast. The list still says “radio”.

Honey pie could still work in hamilton, keep that one hot, it is real.

witches was still there. A real throwback. I am not playing any games unless the trading opens up to allow me to, and I think it’s better all round if you act it out on youtube. then you can play with the fantasy of it – it’s not real.

BASSWAVE – (nyl, blog, podcast)

honeypie
forex
gigs tours band soul science

pirates only lives there again, for pirate matty’s sake. We spoke of this when we discovered russia well it’s almost 3 years now – you can be pirate matty without ever doing a birthday party again, so forget it, being pirate matty is a youtube thing, not an enterprise. Your enterprises have become way more streamlined.

forex is not an enterprise, it’s not even something that requires a huge amount of planning, it’s not meant to be on this list either, it’s about content and the brand now – come to my party at basswave because youre jetset and a trader.

It leaves just basswave because it is NYL, it is my blog, my podcast, my gigs, my tours, it’s all that – and honey pie. It’s is a good idea to get militant with the russian girls if the chance arises and push out using them to spearhead honey pie. But like other things – it doesn’t have to happen. It can happen and be good, let’s hope that it might.

So in 5 years you will have

kurb
romantech
basswave
honey pie
soul science

and remnants rolled over of

pirates
mmm
nyl

What is the main site for the organics and general actual farm business?

You still need needs. Maybe not in the next year or two but eventually. Needs is the local version of basswave.

You could possibly do kurb farm but both are imperfect and yet needn’t be a concern right now – it’s not unresolved because it’s not initiated.

But you can see again the rise of minimalism

If nothing happens I will only have 9 sites that have proper updated content, and 4 of them will be museums, remnants.

I am going in to start archiving my sites tomorrow. The kurb site will be updated, and important backs up organised so that the 7 main sites can be thrown up again. I will see what I can do for the next 10, although I might have to wait til I can see the sites to decide what’s up – is there something even worth back up?

The idea is you download the content that’s up there and match it against what’s in the archive and come up with a master version of the site that you lock in as your proper final back up.

There will be a lot of nonsense we can shut down because we don’t need it for SEO any more.

The rest really don’t matter in terms of content, I need not think about it until I sit down with somebody wanting to push this.

so then you’re left with just all the music stuff. Romantech. Soul science. 6acwave.

You want to be at the stage where kurb and soul science are sorted. basswave and honey pie are over the horizon, you just worry about your site for romantech doing that.

So the task is not done, but just to focus on one site, then i’m sorted.

It is a fresh day and we are back at ground zero with the website issues.

What I didn’t mention was that we crossed back over $30k in trading which is a huge milestone – we have had our new system working for 6 weeks and we have already passed the target we made as our most conservative goal for reaching by april so we could claim we were making money, and we were making at least $200 a week we could download for a few months.

I remain ever more confident we were control the ascent to reach a grand a week by may.

That’s all good.

I go out and do the garden.

I don’t get much done on my websites, I am just sitting down and getting into it when my dad turns up, and I’m not impressed it’s been 10 days since he left.

I just want to get some work done.

I am tapping now, I just feel with these videos and now with these sites I am finally getting on top of shit that has drifted for over 5 years, unresolved, entangled, not giving me any sense I can move on to a structured level where I don’t have to worry about falling through the floor because I built up my structure, what leaning on, what I’m standing on is firm, it’s not just a tangled mess of crap I don’t know what is happening with.

But it’s so much work, this archiving, don’t remember how you’ve spent these summers trying to deal with all this shit.

I remember one year I just thrashed the archiving so heavily for weeks, and now I struggle to think what it was I actually achieved, but that’s how it is, if I went back over my blog I would certainly find out. And there’s an interesting loop there that starts to reveal why I pour my hours into this, I wouldn’t do it if something deeper in me didn’t believe there’s something fundamental to be learned in all this, the sense I get is frustration that I am making progress but it is so very slow.

The trading is killing it though, I’m above my average for the week already, and I haven’t even begun to start pushing the margin.

I know we said we’d do something when we reached $30k?

Extend out to $30k margins. Or just do what we have done, let $20k margins be okay, let $25k margins be okay. We won’t always make money, and we won’t always see it perform like it has recently, step back and then jumping forward, it’s just been too well behaved these last few weeks.

We now have the right to download $100 p/week, and I will assume that we will get to $1k by may.

Making money now is so so different, because they can’t take it away, I can’t see how we can ever drop more than $3k now unless it’s a turkish issue. We will respond shift too quickly now for them to hurt us too much.

We need to work on the websites.

I decided to get stuck straight into the kurb site, it is fine, the prices aren’t even that far out, and a lot of the pages already are not really saying anything or doing anything that would prompt anybody to pursue it with me which is to me fine.

It looks harmless, it looks innocuous, it doesn’t even look that sad and dated because it is so minimal and simple.

All I’m really doing is taking my phone number off.

I don’t see any big update required right now.

kurb
romantech
mmm
nyl
cdvd
pirates

I mean kurb, pirates and cddvd are business sites really and I don’t care about business. The pirates and the cddvd site are fine.

The new business ideas I want to push for kurb are not ready yet. I don’t want bums down here, I want hot russian girls bringing dudes with money.

I think I see I will use the blog to develop my business brand in the mean time, so I could use a new blog design.

Romantech, nyl and mmm are blogs and it really only matters I recover the blog, keep it updated and keep it backed up.

MMM, pirates and kurb exists a lot to fill in my character. It’s okay for them to be as they are, not really doing anything.

cddvd is just business, honestly, you can’t let it be more. NYL is in hibernation until the next phase.

You can do what you always have done, use the blogs to develop the concept.

NYL and MMM is going toward basswave.

Kurb and Pirates and MMM are going toward RC

CDDVD is just business. And it represents the other sites on the list after these ones. It doesn’t really matter.

Even soul science, what am I trying to do?

I mean update the content, sure, but . . . what’s the plan?

Just write the songs, man, I don’t think it matters. It can be whatever it turns out to be, I just have to keep the websites all updated so it’s looks like something is going on.

You update your feeds with cool vibes that are on the tip. You build up this repertoire of branding vibes that you hit again and again to keep selling the vibe. The aesthetic.

You get a little tribe – and this is where it comes back, I don’t want a whole of dick heads into my shit, I’m building my mannerbund and I really only want to connect with people who are on the vibe.

I see nothing I can do right now that’s going to make a big change to the situation. The best thing I can do is make the romantech site better.

Like, honestly.

I just want to repeat what I did on myspace but well, made better, made for my life now.

My story, that’s what’s really up for me, the fact that I can roll out all this shit because I know the whole story.

Some magic update to your website doesn’t change shit. Your website is just one of a number of platforms that have to be continually maintained and worked, the content worked out.

This way the archiving is actual art technique, as I pass through the experience of my own content again – each time I pass through all this content, I am picking out new things to post up, which all fill in the complete picture. This way I spread all my content out over a cycle and each cycle gets longer and filters out more of the lower quality content.

You begin to remember why the podcast is such a big deal – it’s very accessible content.

A website is just a website, it is a snapshot of the brand.

A blog however, is the space to project your plans forward. You can project plans forward, but also master the art of the update, of the feed.

A website you update a few times a year, a blog is the model for a feed by which you engage people with content relevant to them.

What is the blog potential – romantech, here, this blog is obvious but I can see leaping off toward the news blog – the legit blog – and the podcast becomes immediately pertinent.

The website is just a static brand intro, calling card, snapshot, portrait.

You want people following you on facebook, twitter,

pirate matty is moving toward RC

kurb you have room for more business plans but with an RC twist

MMM you have an RC twist but you can introduce new concepts

soulscience just needs a “romantech news” blog – a straight bat for posting content.

NYL is also moving towards RC and basswave. It seems that the strategy is to let the blogs lead for the next little while, developing the kind of content that is going to work.

Basically getting on kurb and MMM and starting to prod in that direction – setting up ideas for basswave and angling into that net, getting the romantech news site going right, so I can bring on more travel content, feed content.

Think about it as a content farm, you need to feed out the content.

And using NYL and Pirates you can make little incremental moves along the RC timeline.
