First up – “Pure Juice” by Squeezer – The Remixes out on New Clear Music featuring the Soul Science Remix

The latest release on Newclear Music is also the first official release by Auckland’s Squeezer. On Monday 29th of August, we’re dropping a 5-track remix EP containing works by newcomer Will Marshall, Cartoon boy Haszari, AKL DNB duo Soul Science, and the label’s own nsu. In addition to those, we also have Squeezer’s new “TSV” rework of the original.

Full background info on the remix EP can be obtained in the press release.

On Facebook link

On itunes

Probably the bangsteringest tune we done yet, it’s hard work writing dancefloor devastators, but the uplifting vibe of the original squeezer track was too good, and this is pretty close to the kind of beats I’d like to write, big tunes that have uplifting future funk vibes but drop with ferocious tear outs.

It’s a hard thing to pull. You can definitely tell that the uplifting vibes are all about successful champions grasping for championship glory, in a split second the hope of victory catches light in the mind of a champion, that’s why I have to get some quarterbacks and some jet fighters on this. Not only do we want successful all american elvis dudes who date the head of the cheerleading squad but when after scoring the winning touchdown, soviet danger threatens, Troy is called on to fight for freedom in the sky.

You can tell when the bassline drops, Troy is in a heavy dogfight with a couple of dirty evil cossacks, and he has to rely on his football knowledge to outsmart the reds, and so he totally like “goes long” and shoots them down by targeting his laser beams onto them, mainly because he is striving to protect the american way of life that he loves for himself as a striving champion for victory and freedom to be frickin awesome.

There’s definitely war and peace, it’s yin and yang, all things in balance. But it’s also about glory, an my whole absurd realism trip. You can’t be a high school quarterback and a jet fighter. That’s just some absurd concept of what it is in 20th century american culture to be a real winner. A real winner is an ideal, an so an ideal is brought to life in rugged misappropriated cliches. We all want to be winners. We all want the pure juice, the pure goodness, the pure source of energy, but is it even real or some nonsense we saw on TV?

Heaps of artists have themes in their work and I like quarterbacks who fly into space and do karate chops and ninja stars on space zombies, and robot tigers with laser shooting turrets. Maybe the space zombie aliens are dinosaurs. Long story short is we’re just getting started on this so let’s move on, but it’s basically deep vibes in victory for winners, who have to have funky tearing battles and rampaging struggles.

DOWNLOAD LATEST BEAT DUNGEON NZ BEATS

My latest radio show on the Beat Dungeon is up here – lots of chilled vibes and all 100% NZ electronica – downbeat, dubstep, future bass, housey business a bit of drum and bass, and ding donging around, check it out here

Did I put up the link for Beyond Faith? That’s my Jam out on Rotation Deep check it out into your check out, add to cart each and every time come to deep up the party.

And of course the vid for power supply, gonna get some more vids runnin soon!

Man I am like a prolific artist and stuff, I’m probably going to have to get some cool sunglasses because of how I’m the man.

Seriously, Drum and Bass, it’s just a thing y’know, it’s no big deal, I’m a stonecold superstar like that, I’m like y’know, checking my portfolio, I shouldn’t have sold my Telecom shares so early, but I think I’ve made a strong pick in AirNZ.

I mean I do have some new music out and stuff, you can check it out, not like I care because I’m such an artiste and I’m poolside closing the next big deal.

In fact I really am too arty and creative to even be writing this blog now and I would rather feel that I just remain just at a creative peak in terms of my thought processes, in a kind of a more static, kind of um receptive posture. I need to seek guidance from my zumba instructor.

I need to consult my runes, okay, I’ve got an appointment to have my positive power centres healed later so I don’t have time for this bullshit.

It’s “Juice of Life” NSU ft. Squeezer (soul Science Remix): Behind the Music!

The official Juice of life press release with all the buy links and what not is right there if you follow the link.

The first Soul Science release for 2011, my first tune for 2011 is “Juice of Life” by NSU ft Squeezer, (Soul Science Remix)

It maybe the first Soul Science release for all I know because it’s not like there’s any other Soul Science tunes available online is there? I mean like Itunes and stuff, to buy? Maybe it’s a big deal but I’m not really keeping score, that’s what happens when you’ve been trying to do this for 11 years. What’s a release? What’s a first release? I just make some beats and stuff.

Ain’t seen no milestones. It’s just another mile, it’s just another ode to the odometer.

So let us test out the time machine space pyramid one more time and return to the era only a short few months ago when this new track was completed:

So okay, I’m trying to negotiate for this new camera, it’s actually a good camera but it’s a huge beast, it’s actually an entry level pro ting – good for weddings and what not – as I said my whole issue is with convenience and if it’s a huge thing I have to grab around it doesn’t really lend it’s self to a few hours shooting random crap and editing it into a few minutes to go with a beat.

[I actually ended up buying this camera]

And then what did I say? Well phone rang a few times and I made all this cash, but that was helped by the fact I dealt with my printer issues. Which is smart, because BMW’s cost heaps of money, but printers make heaps of money. Both of the damn things never seem to be fine.

[hmm. All those issues earlier in the year that were making my life a complete misery. Fixed those. Awesome]

And the phone rings and we close some deals, and suddenly just throwing cash at the lawn and these stupid cars doesn’t seem quite as stupid as it did when I realised I had got my first parking ticket since the bailiff came.

Sales always power up my life force juice, which is a guess a tentative link to me talking about the first tune of 2011, which is the Soul Science remix of NSU’s “Juice of Life”

JUICE OF LIFE: SOUL SCIENCE – BEHIND THE MUSIC

I have completed my first tune for the year, it’s the remix of the NSU track “Juice of Life” which features Squeezer, and that is pretty much way more naked warrior king retreat than any amount of trust falls.

I think basically what you have there is a bunch of surfer hippie bros playing hacky on the beach and it’s all like “dude!” pretty much like some ad for some kind of ice block, they’re probably surfing and playing frisbee and they’re probably having a barbeque later on but they are pretty much oblivious to the deeper knowledge that as night falls and the stars come out, creatures are on epicly deep journeys through the night.

The owl flies through the night, running on instinct, it’s some deep primal vibes, because the owl is on an epic journey through the jungle and it’s surreal because owls don’t journey through the amazon, and then it’s all on this heart of darkness, apocalypse now, snail crawling along the razors edge, owls are not what they seem trip.

Shit is dense!

The owl is closer to god. The owl understands the sacrifice of the son. The owl bears witness as Martin Sheen does to Colonel Kurtz.

I have ideas for the video but I really don’t want to get carried away with an idea I just want to do quickly in a few days. Just spend one day or 2 going round in my suit getting people to act filming me talking to them making inquiries as to the whereabouts of NSU.

I think I might have some of me stumbling around so it’s a real McNulty vibe – investigatin’, boozing, sleeping in your car and investigatin’ some more, but as with all our (wait for it bout to mint a new term!) – “modesthaus” videos less is more, it’ll just be me going around and cutting back and forth with footage of NSU gigs ripped from youtube, so it’s got a grainy, non permissive vibe, almost as if it represents reviewing security footage etc as well as a dual narrative that of course is never resolved.

[wow historiical documentation of the conception of the "modesthaus" term]

At the moment, my “modesthaus” vibe is to modest for any kind of resolution of anything set up, so no it has no structure the narrative is basically “Me, in a suit is looking for a another guy who is possibly a guy shown in footage performing that is either video existing within the storyline or happening simultaneously as I make my enquiries. Sometimes I am pictured dishevelled or stumbling about possibly due to tiredness, drunkenness, or maybe even in an induced stupor but it is not linear or explained.

Then I got on Twitter. It’s the Juice of Life remix, yo!

Just described my @nsuonline remix as “way more naked warrior king retreat than any amount of trust falls”.

It’s more about an owl who comes to know god in the depths of the amazon. It’s some heart of darkness shit, pretty much

“I go deep. It’s an amazonian apocalypse now reenacted with a bicurious owl as sheen and brando potrayed as a christ like frog or toad.” #itsart

I’m not sure we got to the part where the young owl is dealing with his sexuality but I think it underpins the main narrative with these psychosexual themes.

The album is titled “Rescapé” (French for “survivor”), a play on the title of the 2009 EP “Escape”, and its release signals a game-changer:

“Having released a couple of remix singles last year, primarily focusing around styles such as dubstep, breakbeat, house, electro and techno, I wanted to flip the coin and move away from the dance floor in order put the spotlight on the more laid-back genres, while staying true to the remix art form. The intention is to have something that, regardless of the environment, encourages people to listen and allow inside their headspace, rather than have an hour full of slamming rhythms and pulverising basslines.” – Ivan Vuković (IV), nsu

Collaborations are the key strength of the album, as the compilation features new versions of previously released nsu tracks put together by handpicked producers:

“I love the concept of a remix and hearing how other musicians construct their own interpretations of my work. As a result I was keen to put together a full-length album project that involved artists from around the country whose work I have admired over the years – the bonus here is, I can refer to most of these guys as my friends. I love working together with other people and I’m very proud of the outcome on this album – it plays very nicely from start to end.” – IV

The album features sublime new work from respected New Zealand artists such as Auckland’s Dub Asylum and Soul Science, 762 (one half of Sick Cycle from Christchurch), Raglan’s Felix Deluxe and Jason Lurman (from Hamilton instrumental rock band Sora Shima), as well as chill-out specialists from the South Island – Invader Tron (CHCH), Sharkweek (Dunedin) and Stray Theories (Timaru). nsu also delivers two of his own fresh new reworks, including a collaboration with Haszari of the Cartoon Beats fame.

The album is available now in digital (MP3) format from Bandcamp, Apple iTunes, JunoDownload.com, AmazonMP3 and other online retailers.

Pick up the
Operation Restore album from Wellington’s Empathy Recordings – all proceeds go to Christchurch Earthquake release, 18 tunes – dubstep, drum and bass and more for around about $17 I think. More casual thoughts on this below

OMG I got so drunk last night.

I think I was sick of hearing that phrase by the time I was 17.

But I was playing at the UPfm party for beat dungeon, because I was playing so early and I didn’t really know how it would play, I figured I would just go home early and kick back, probably record a short mix of local NZ drum and bass, as because it was a beat dungeon thing I’m really getting stuck in to holding our 100% NZ quota and really becoming the 100% NZ beats show in Upfm.

But first it was free champagne which was quite delicious, and then I got stuck in to the Beck’s that were put out for the DJ’s. I was already getting squiffy and going on about how it is the opening DJ’s duty to drink the rider. Ill behaviour ensued.

I honestly didn’t really think about what I was doing until I was plastered, and by that time I was already causing havoc, having a ball and because I was so drunk just flouncing about the place talking to lots of girls, lot’s of DJ’s, bigging up all the crew and one of the DJ’s dropped some James Blake and I must say I thought it was pretty good.

I got so drunk it took me ages to sober up. At one point I was quite animatedly venting my frustration that I spend a maximum of about a working day a week doing tunes, and it’s not enough. 2 hours a day at least I need. Up until now I never had that time, but now I have to nail it. Frickin triangle, not opening and stuff!

But it was a great party and a great set up in the Studio on K rd with 5 zones so big up to the UPfm fam. Me and Disha @ Beat Dungeon have been looking for ways to up the ante in a time efficient way because I can’t really make much more time for other projects outside making beats and youtube videos. But 1st we wanted to establish a point of difference and in order to be the NZ music show on upfm and that to be the flag we wave. It doesn’t really suit me because I want to play my favourite party liquid funk and drum and bass but to be doing something unique, somebody has to push the local sound. Plenty of young guys playing drum and bass and I’ll keep playing my favourite bangers in the club.

SO my job is basically to build of stockpiles of local product and good supply lines – I think first, the music has to be good and that’s an achievable goal, it just means following up all over the show to get the tunes.

This is my new favourite, this miniature horse.

This horse is a lot better than a lot of things I can think of.

But I had to post about this compilation too, from Empathy before it got too far off the release so we can actually get to talk about something other than me for once, and what horses I like and getting horsed at gigs, and actually talk about something going on with some beats.

I picked up this Operation Rescue . . . whoops Operation Restore compilation from empathy recordings you can pick it up from Juno Download here:

Operation Restore

I really like Ollie Bassweight’s tune “Float” and also Black Planet’s “Relief” those are the two tunes I’ve kept coming back to, both on deeper nu skool dub tip.

There was talk of us putting a song from Soul Science on there and we didn’t really think about it and we ended up putting up “Gonna Getcha” because I didn’t want to put up anything new that wasn’t finished, “Gonna Getcha” is a good tune but it’s old and needs a rehaul, good vibe, details, but it’s too messy, so it wasn’t really suitable.

To me, I appreciated the importance of having tunes in the vault, a couple of tunes that are finished and can be deployed at any time . . . on request. A couple of torpedo’s locked in the frickin tubes. But old mother hubbard was shit out of luck when she knocked on Soul Science’s door.

No point putting out anything when you know you can do better.

Oh and this Eavesdrop release from Empathy is also excellent if you’re looking good musical drum and bass. I was especially into it because his mix was really nice, his musical ideas were challenging, but much like our stuff . . . it still wasn’t quite massive, his stuff is excellent but he’s not nipping at the heels of shapeshifter and state of mind yet . . . but this is just the first EP! 10, 20 tunes down the line this guy could be dangerous.

I got all sorts of plans which I don’t feel like. I been riffing on videos for mini-mixes of EPs that will never happen. I even started to half think about making my radio show better which is quite strange, because it’s not really at my level of preferred indulgence, y’know, actually being constructive about a goal that is sort of worthwhile. Who cares about that?

There might have been something else, but I forgot. My point is I’m always thinking of things, I just can’t help myself. I don’t have time for things like TV and Xbox and whatever, that’s my time for think club.

It might explain why I feel so compelled to blog, I’m sure the great writers were probably the same, not even knowing what they were writing about or if it even made sense . . . just y’know, writing. That’s what art is about. Compulsion. It’s raw. It’s wild. It sits there in a heap for 2 days and then suddenly instinct bolts through and the lion chases down in it’s prey with feverish predatory compulsion, jumping and tearing at the rich, nutritious flesh.

Everyone wants to think they’d rather be a Lion until the gamehunters or the frightened village hunting party shows up. Then it doesn’t seem such a hot prospect.

I decided the romantech might be suited to weddings. Don’t ask, it’s something about turning a buck, just like the lion, when you’re eating fresh meat, life seems good for the moment. Times have changed and move with the times we must. Nice work if you can get it, and you can get it if you try.

When I do a pirate party, I feel like I’ve done something for someone. Making the little kids and their mums happy. Making beats doesn’t seem to make anyone happy. But as I’ve described before it’s just like a boxing club. Whoever delivers the knock out punch on the dancefloor is going to get pumped and the crowd loves it, and the ladies love you for it. Not so great for the other contenders who bite the canvas, the gladiators who get eaten by starving lions and limbs hacked off.

Both are real, so make your choice. I’m not really keen to get hacked at by a large sword, so that doesn’t make me much of a gladiator. I’d much rather film weddings and do a deal where I film the ceremony and later DJ the reception. I’ve been shopping for video cameras.

The thing I always liked about money was that it’s always there. A girl gets bored of you, you get bored of the last song you wrote, but money’s always there. I don’t really see the point in trying to be cool. It’s like being 21 and being able to beat your 12 year old brother and all his friends at computer games, I mean really?

In the last episode we wondered why we couldn’t be more like Indiana Jones.

Debris, was the answer for 10 points and a chance to play for the Lounge suite.

Hamlet drank from the poison chalice that basically kills everyone, Donnie Darko got hit by debris, makes you wonder what the story was all about. Debris can fall and kill you.

So, sorry you’re not a winner. Better luck next time. You’re not part of the story where it all works out. You are the fool.

The fool in Shakespeare saw the reality beyond the constraints of laws, rules and functions.

Alas poor Yorick, a man of infinite jest – he was good, but now he’s a goner. End of story.

I think about entitlement a lot when I’m walking down the street. It’s what this blog post was supposed to be about. Everybody thinks they deserve to be happy, but who said that was the rule?

People everywhere demand to be happy. They think it’s their right. They think that choosing will make them happy because they’re free, but science doesn’t back it up.

Guys like me expect to live awesome lives, girls expect perfect boyfriends, poor people expect life to get easier, you might call it hope, but I think it’s much more. Is it too much TV? Look, I don’t expect it all. I just figure we may as well play for the best prize. Unfortunately that’s how everyone feels, and that’s my issue with right wingers, if you roll the dice, if you’re the one coming up with snake eyes, is it so easy to accept the verdict? I think right wingers mistakenly equate their privilege with natural genetic superiority which is what they’ve always done really. They think they’re on top because they’re better but really only think they’re better because they’re on top.

The point I’m making is that someone has to get a raw deal. But our culture encourages us not to be happy because everyone expects so much, more. I expect more, I experience disappointment . . . and maybe that’s because I feel with my privilege I should be able to do more.

I used to describe it when I was referring to myself – blogging last year – as “relativity”, my hopes and expectations relative to that of the general population. All the normal working people who really don’t hope to be big shots like I do. But to a certain extent, everyone seems a little more harsh, I guess Auckland grows ever more like New York.

The times do seem tougher. And if I can actually finally climb outside of myself . . .

Of course I am . . . who else? I was there writing a shitty tune on god what was it? With the 4 racks all stacked up? 10 years ago?

I mean . . . ugh, damn. Couldn’t manage to get out in time. Better luck next time.

Damn I almost made it, it was something about materialism . . . dammit. Oh well.

We’re doing some Drum and Bass music.

At the moment I’m making 2 remixes for the Beat Dungeon family, and a collab with some influential dude in the UK and we’ve got this other tune “Hang ‘em High” which no one specifically wants, it’s just heavy, so I’ll finish it.

Those are my 4 songs I am doing for January.

But I can’t take responsibility for any of this crap being released in relation to or association with me or whatever because I just write my tunes, I just do my DJing, and all that kind of stuff, I am just trying to do something, and express myself. It’s not my fault if people like my tunes. They’re pretty crappy. I’ve got some DJ mixes out, that’s got some good mixes and songs and stuff.

Want to get my brand new free liquid funk drum and bass mix for 2010 – get in!!!

But we’re making some new drum and bass tunes today, in fact January is a lot about doing good tunes now.

Anyone can make money. I do it all the time, strangely enough I’m still doing business now in my quiet period, which is disquitening, because I am trying to open up my triangle over here, and the get the tunes, and basically throw down and radical new swagger when I step.

It’s not my fault I make crap music, I’m trying to run a business over here so I got a couple of bucks to my name and I can do as I please, maybe try and stop writing crap tunes and chase girls all the time, ironic really because when the phone rings it’s always some dude wanting to do business. And so I do business and not a good tune or some girl I met.

Oh well. Life is a banquet, but sometimes you can only get the seat furthest away from the dessert bar, so just eat whats on your plate.

I’m trying to sort out my photoshoot for my website, and with my videos, I’m trying to get all my videos framed properly to launch into, and of course tunes and all that.

I was listening to my mates mix of NZ Drum and Bass all Concord Dawn and Trei and Cern and all that and there was some quite good tunes, which is kind of annoying, because really all I want is to be in the club.

I want to be a list MP of NZ Drum and Bass, I don’t need to be cabinet. I just want to be appointed to serve my constituency. But I don’t have the goods. My tunes are too crappy. In fact I was listening to some of the tunes on the mix and I was like, man I still sound like the unsigned guys. I’m not good enough to be in the club yet.

My space is not zenfully triangular enough. In the best tunes all the space in the groove and everything is so patiently and evenly spread. The triangle is spilling out centred vibes. Mastering and all that kind of stuff can be someone else’s problem I just want to focus on the bit I do well and someone else can deal with the other bit.

So what am I doing? With all my videos and stuff, I’m blubbering and whimpering saying that I can do one too? Well I can and I’m in it and on it, trying to make my next thing better, because on the soul science soundcloud, it all sounds pretty ordinary and I think I can do a lot better.

But maybe I could never have seen that till now, and it wouldn’t be now if I hadn’t done a bunch of crappy songs that some people seem to like, but as I said when I gave up on being a real musician . . . . well I’m not even a musician, if some people like my tunes then that’s really their problem.

Even if they do run a drum and bass label. If they like the tunes they can deal with it, I haven’t made anything any good except for this track “I can only ask” which isn’t a drum and bass song.

I’m just trying to write a good tune here.

I think I’ve got some talent. Mainly for strange nooks and crannies and spaces where vibes are lurking and growing but I also can sometimes write some uplifting vibes. I think I could do a lot better.

I’m working on some remixes and this collab. Which is cool. But they can’t be crap they have to be good now, which means more weird ideas, more brutal refinement, and more revisions happening again and again as we isolate and expand the essence of the groove and garnish it suitably.

I would rather be chasing girls to be honest, but I have to do these tunes, and I’m sick of having crappy tunes that are nonsense everywhere.

How good am I updating my blog with relevant information about y’know gigs and music and stuff that’s supposed to be important?

Look I know what’s important, okay? Anyway. I’m an artist. Or something.

Basically, I play gigs, I do. I’m active in that way, and songs, music, I make it, but y’know. What is that really relevant to in the history of the universe? Anyway.

I am playing this weekend and both the NSU launch party for the EP Escape.

December 12 at Rising SUn.

I should really have facebook links and all that jazz but this is an UNDERGROUND blog, nu underground, actually, which is super artistically pure, 100% free of posers. Respectable people still might heed the name of Romantech however so I try not to swear.

But the NSU EP features the original version of a song I went on to remix, it’s title is numeric – um, I forget quite what – which is just the kind of trivia that you’d expect to find on this kind of blog so there’s a bone for all you dogs. And the bassline is out of tune on the remix so I’ll probably spend more years in purgatory redeeming myself for that particular sin, and probably being beaten with bats. And chased.

Sin, sin, my child! And juju. Bad Juju. Both my computers are working again and my hard drive with all my songs from 2006 and 2007 has been recovered, which I guess on this blog where that stuff matters, that is a big deal. It’s relevant to my circumstances. Computers that don’t make music and also actually destroy and lose music are definitely the work of unfavourable entities in any religion I’m likely to be a part of.

So computers that are making and storing music means happy faces and less jujutastic activity where just about everything is all going to hell, basically.

We are also playing as Soul Science at the Zen 2nd Birthday. We’re like at the bottom of the flyer, oh the ignominy! What? Okay, okay alright I’ll settle down.

But both will feature Micah aka Stray Theories on Sax with us and doing his own performances of the rich deep beats he makes at the NSU party. I was totally into this because basically it was my commitment to short circuit lifestyles. And beat dungeon lifestyles. Touring, gigs, jamming, putting down beats – filming it of course – it’s about creative vision and creative freedom, man! like, Dude!

To me, this music stuff has already branched off beyond whether your new tune was better than your last one, that’s what I saying like, I make music, so what? There’s a story, there’s a journey, there’s a message and all the rest. Lifestyle, ya moafz! Creative, artistic, and keeping it fresh with community and activity.

Speaking of messages, girls wont give you their phone number, they want you to message them on facebook. I got booted off Facebook for my marketeering. I want to launch my vibe onto that, y’know – my brand (the cauldron of which is this blog into which you now peer) – but it looks like I need to be expedient for my own personal welfare.

I’ve always known that I should get organised. I’m thinking after all these recent trials, maybe for once in my life I actually will. Except I’m a lunatic, but anyway.

Finally we’ll be playing the Detonate festival in Taranaki for new years, 11-1am the sweet spot basically, but of course this will be a separate dance/dj zone.

I don’t want to be twiddling my thumbs on new years. I played Fu last year, it was awesome. There was purity in it. Definitely, it was one of my best new years ever. Basically I just chilled at home after midnight, then cruised down to fu and rocked the crowd and then cruised home again in the morning light.

But anyway, check out this creepy apartment creeper. Imagine that! I’m sure I could paint up some metaphor for how this has a deep meaning in terms something going on but really it’s just some twisted, distinctly dislocated vibes. wtfoflcopter

Intro:

Voice over, beat dungeon radio 4 pm Sunday. Ivan is interviewing Shane and Matt about the forthcoming tour. Perhaps they have artificial kind of excitement, all very radio cliche.

Ivan may even make a haha funny point of the fact that one of the hosts is interviewing the other as if he were a guest ha-de-ha.

Cut to studio.

Ivan: “And so this is kind of like a progression from the short circuit tour? . . .”

Matt and Shane agree and spout more cliche soundbites about “new beginnings” and such.

Possibly, Ralph E and whoever might call up during the show with “questions” (can you fit me in the van?)

This fades to images from a short circuit montage, as the interview continues as a voice over – and gets reverbed out, fading into a daunting track.

Shane launch into a Hunter S. Thompson / Apocalypse now style monologue.

“The Truth was that . . .

Real fundamental exposition takes place covering the central themes of neive musicians clinging onto this idea that through touring you could make it, and their dashed dreams. Deano, Mitch and Volita are alluded to. This monologue gradually segues over to darcy and the fall of Short Circuit, but also continues to reference the goals of supporting local producers

And that was the truth . . . that was the end of short circuit.”

Funeral scene – funeral for short circuit.

Matt preaches about the death of fallen producers and of the rave culture. Ivan and Micah + whoever else watch solemnly.

When the subject moves over to Short Circuit / Darcy, Shane states that it had to happen and the last time we saw Darcy he was dragged away by police in a disorderly state after the Wanaka gig.

But what about the producers?

At this point may go into another music bit = short circuit “do a number” perhapsa bangin electro acid jazz beat poetry anthem about letting the producers know its christmas time or similar, in the cemetary with dance moves and rocking out on gear.

. . . For the love of god won’t someone think of the producers?

Cut to Ivan + Micah + “whoever else” ie = other beat dungeon / short circuit producers with lots of gear / in the studio talking “seriously” and perhaps even “nerdily” and intensely about their music, probably Ralph E also.

This turns into a mash up, and goes into another tune, and a another montage of pretty straight up and down footage of the artists performing.

Finishes with one last monologue from Micah, Ivan, Shane and Matt which are more general reference to the tour and humourous.

The secondary goals of the Beat Dungeon – dirty beats dirty samples – book the shows, take the money, then we send one guy down while we have an all day arty rave jamfest for the benefit of youtube . . . – are foreshadowed and further exposed.

End Act I
